Profile
Jane has been a professional opera singer for 30 years, working in Europe and UK. Her interests now lie
in the
application of psychological techniques to help musicians cope with the
stresses of professional life. Music Psychology is an exciting and
rapidly growing psychological discipline which can answer a number of
important questions about the relationship between music and human
beings. Jane’s recent PhD research explored musical career transition
and the implications of redundancy for musicians. Jane now
combines psychology with counselling experience to offer
specialist support to artists of all genres. Jane is currently a visiting researcher at the Royal Northern College of Music.
As
well as singing professionally, Jane also runs a successful teaching
practise and is Musical Director of the Dorset Police Male Voice Choir,
Coda Music Trust Choir and Wareham Choral Society.
